American Coatings was founded in 1985 on the principles of integrity, exceptional product value and superior service to our customers. Recognizing that the ongoing consolidation of the industry was ignoring the customer, American Coatings set out to reverse the trends by valuing the customer as more than just a quick sale or profit.
American Coatings serves a variety of markets to include Product Finishing, Industrial, Automotive Refinishing and Heavy-Duty Maintenance with a product line consisting of epoxies, polyurethanes, acrylic emulsions, acrylic enamels, zinc primers and alkyd systems. American Coatings also offers a line of specialty coatings designed for the industrial storage tank industry that includes specialty linings such as epoxy phenolics, epoxy novolacs and our American Chopped Fiberglass and 100% Solids Epoxy Lining systems.
With the environment a major concern, American Coatings leads the way with compliant technology in low VOC alkyds, high-build polyurethanes, direct-to-metal urethanes, 100% Solids Epoxies, and our Rust-Lok DTM epoxies and ultra low VOC RETAW water base line of finishes.

American Coatings currently services a multitude of customers each month in varied industries such as Oil and Gas companies, Oil Refineries, Supply companies, Industrial Implement and Crane companies, Trailer Manufacturers, Container companies and Door Manufacturers, as well as a variety of Specialty Original Equipment Manufacturers whose specifications require unique technologies. We produce thousands of gallons of paint and coatings each month, designed to meet the challenges of the 21st Century…with the most up-to-date technology available.
While American Coatings, with more than 25 years of service, is considered a relatively young company, our success can be found in the experience of our people. Our entire employee group has "grown up" in the paint industry starting with our owners, Jim Adams and Jim Morrison. Along with Bobby Hargrave (Production/Shipping Coordinator), Kirby Meyer (Purchasing Manager), Gary Moyer (Director of Research and Development), Danny Miller (Quality Control Manager), Bill Osters (Sales Director), Desiree Crismon (Inside Sales Coordinator), we offer our customers over 250 years of paint experience.
